After the sale of his internet video company, Danny Chu was approached by his brother with a request – take your success with innovative technology and business strategies and help our physician group choose an electronic health record system (EHR).
Danny quickly realized that none of the existing EHR solutions measured up to the technological advances seen in other industries, so he knew he’d found his next mission: use open innovation to propel healthcare into the digital age.
After this discovery, Danny decided to put together a team of leading industry experts bringing their respective talents from internet technologies, enterprise software, healthcare clinicians and providers, to form a coalition to transform healthcare. Fast forward to today and Danny Chu is CEO of SocialCare, a four-year-old growth stage health tech company in Austin, Texas with plans to double in size this year to support growth
SocialCare’s mission is to provide a secure, interoperable platform that streamlines the development of innovative applications that deliver value across clinical and business aspects of healthcare.
Danny Chu is a serial entrepreneur, veteran and visionary of the internet technology space who brings his experience and knowledge, of more than 15 years in the tech industry, to help transform the healthcare industry.
Danny’s last venture was Red Lever (formerly KTV Digital Media), a company he founded in 2005, that revolutionized the internet video advertising and distribution industry. The company became a top online video distribution network, specializing in the production and distribution of original branded video content to an audience of 325 million unique internet users across web and mobile platforms. The company was sold to Adconion Media Group in November 2008.
Danny comes from a family of doctors and healthcare providers. Danny’s brother is a Primary Care Physician and an operator of a large IPA in California. Upon successfully exiting his last venture, Danny was asked review the available EHR products as due diligence for his brother’s IPA during the inception of the HITECH act. Danny discovered that the products available were outdated, cumbersome, expensive, and most importantly, lacked innovation.
With this discovery, Danny decided to put together a team of industry experts, combining talents from internet technology, enterprise software, healthcare clinicians and providers, health IT, and experts from the US intelligence community to transform healthcare. From that group intelligence, SocialCare was founded in 2012.
